The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

Today's Update

Hello friends~

I had wanted to update you several times yesterday, but we are having some challenging computer issues that prevented me from logging on the rest of the day. I spoke with my mom throughout the day yesterday and again this morning. She is not feeling well and they are running several tests to determine what is causing her symptoms. She was sick to her stomach all day, and has been unable to keep any food down. She is experiencing numbness and tingling in her hands and arms, and is having much difficulty walking. They believe she broke her tail bone during the fall, and that is causing her pain as well.

The doctors are still unsure of why she has been so weak and experiencing such difficulty walking. More tests will be given tomorrow so I will hopefully have more news at that time. My mom has always been such a pillar of strength, and such an optimistic person even through her battle with cancer 20 years ago, and during my dad's passing a year and a half ago. It saddens me to hear that optimism leaving her, and how frightened, and unsure she is of the future. She is struggling with how much life she has left, and how to approach her uncertain future. I feel very helpless being so far away, but I know her strong support system of friends in California are getting her through these trying days in the hospital. BIG thanks to Annette for spending the past few days in the hospital with my mom...your presence is so reassuring to her.

Thank you friends for stopping by to see her, for your phone calls, and for your prayer support. It means so much to her, and we consider ourselves blessed to have so many friends that care!

So sorry to hear your mom is not doing well. I know it must be very difficult to be here when she is there. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. And as always, I am only a phone call or short drive away...
