The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

Today's News

Hello again! My mom is still in the hospital having her blood transfusion, and waiting on test results before she will be released. Her health right now is still unstable, so being in the hospital is the best place for her until they can get her blood levels back to where they should be, and follow up with the heart issues she has.

Unfortunately, the care is not at the level we had come to expect and appreciate in Colorado. I am going to fly out tomorrow and stay for a few days to assess the situation and make some decisions at that time regarding her care. My mom was of course saddened at this set back, but it still remains her wish to return home, so we will do everything we can to honor that.

Being an only child, in another state, in circumstances such as this, is so difficult. Thanks to the tremendous help and support of my sisters in law, and my mom's friends Annette, Nancy, Sherry and more, my mom has had several advocates for her care until I arrive. We truly couldn't be making this happen without any of you, and your care and compassion is so greatly appreciated! I will keep you updated you on the blog. Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers!

Lorraine looks so pretty with new roses in her cheeks. I zipped on down there yesterday and we had such a good visit. :) I also enjoyed seeing Shellie, too! Annette & Shellie are right there with Lorraine at the hospital taking good care of her, and they have been wonderful to stay in communication with. Thank you both!

Denise, I am sorry to hear about this setback with your mom. I know being far away must be difficult. Have a safe trip and let's talk when you return.

I know Denise is super busy to update the blog, but has anyone heard how Lorraine is doing? Is she out of the hospital yet?

We are praying for her.

Thanks, Laura D.
