The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”

Grandma Lorraine

I talk to my mom twice a day now, and she is doing as well as can be expected. The other day she felt well enough for her nail gal to come, and so she was happy to have freshly painted nails! The Hospice nurse came yesterday and will be starting her on oxygen. Her heart sounds strong, yet she is now having some respiratory issues. She has medication to help with headaches as the tumor progresses. She enjoyed sitting outside the other day while Gayle (one of her favorite caregivers!) shelled walnuts. They said there was a nice breeze and she enjoyed watching the deer and their babies that come so close to the house. Her legs continue to feel heavy and it is becoming increasingly harder to bear weight, although she is still trying to make at least one loop around the driveway. I am so anxious to get out to see her next week. Thank you for keeping my mom in your thoughts and prayers. She is such a positive woman and has never once felt sorry for herself or questioned, "Why me?" I have learned so much from her and her grace under such difficult circumstances. She is quite a lady, and I am so happy to be her daughter!

Denise, She sounds like an incredible lady. The respect that you have for her is beautiful. It makes me feel guilty for complaining this week for a teething baby. There is so much more out there. You are both in my thoughts & prayers.

I really am glad when you share how your mom's days are going. It makes me so proud of how God shines through her life and yours as well! I am happy that you are able to come next weekend again.

Love you both-
Kim

I'm glad your mom is having good days. She is so inspirational, and that makes her even more beautiful than she looks on the outside. I'm sure getting her nails done and making those laps makes her feel good... and good for her!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thank you for keeping us updated on her. You all remain in my thoughts and prayers!!
