The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

Gone Boo'in...

A mysterious ghoul came to our house a few days ago and "BOO'ed" us! A little bag of Halloween goodies and a cute scroll with a poem arrived on our doorstep. This was a huge fad in California in our old neighborhood, and we loved it! This was our first "Booing" in Colorado and we were so surprised! What makes this "Booing" all the better, is that we are truly at a loss for who our mysterious haunter is. On the scroll you are instructed to make two more goodie bags and print out the poem for "Booing" for two more recipients. The scroll is to be placed on your front door so other haunters will know who has been "Boo'ed." Tonight we drove to the neighborhood of two friends and under the cover of darkness, the kids ran and rung the doorbell of each house, continuing the Halloween cheer!

On other news, my mom had a nice outing today around her neighborhood. Her caregiver Gayle, pushed her in the wheelchair through all the oak lined streets and they enjoyed the fall colors and falling leaves. The Hospice nurse came again today and her blood pressure and vital signs were good. She has been sleeping well at night and doesn't have any pain or dicomfort so that too is good news. She had two visitors yesterday, one of which gave her a nice foot massage which she said was the best massage she ever had! :-) Tasks that were once easy, are now a challenge, and skills that we all take for granted are now things that she needs assistance with. She never gives in to sadness or depression, but looks at the positive in each day. Today's positive was the wheelchair ride enjoying the view. It reminds me to "enjoy the view" and appreciate the beauty in everyday moments. Like my mom, try to do the same tomorrow, and you will surely feel happier when the day comes to an end! :-)

Being Boo'd sounds really fun...I have never heard of that tradition!

I think you must have gotten your great attitude from your mom. You really have a way of looking at life that seems to see the best, and enjoy the good. You are a great example to me.

Amen, my friend. I'm so glad your mom had a good day... Oooo and the foot massage, there's nothing like a good one!
How fun getting "Boo'd". I must say that Allie's going to Boo a friend of hers and when I told her that you'd been Boo'd, she was ready to go out and do it NOW! haha I think she was thinking it was too early, and now she's all ready to go.
It's always a fun day to know that you're thought of... and I'd have Boo'd you if I were closer. :-)

Hi! When I visited your mom yesterday, she was sitting at the sliding glass door still enjoying the squirrels on the hillside and the fall leaves turning. She's one very special lady!! I would also like you to share the "You've been Boo'd" poem with me. It sounds like such fun! Have a safe trip tomorrow. Your mom can't wait for you to arrive.
Love,
Annette

I've never heard of being 'boo'd', except the negative kind.

I'm still praying for you and your mom. Glad she is savoring every moment.
