The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

Smile for the day...

Am I getting older? Say it ain't so. Technically the answer is yes, but I am fighting it every step of the way. You don't think that I pluck, tweeze, wax, and color my hair for the fun of it? My daily lotions and potions are surely keeping me youthful! I am "only" 42 years old, and still have plenty of good years ahead of me. Why all the fuss you ask? Well, yesterday while out grocery shopping, the checker behind the register saw my purse

and she very innocently asked, "Oh, are those your GRANDCHILDREN? They're so cute!" GRANDCHILDREN? I'm 42! My oldest is only 13! Do the 20 lbs. I have put on in 20 years really show? Are my grey hairs and new wrinkles aging me that much?

But I didn't tell her any of that, I just politely replied, "Thank you." :-)

If it makes you feel better, people always ask me if my mom is my sister. Now, I have always thought that was a reflection of her youthful look...UNTIL, the mail lady told me I look OLDER than her! Older than my MOTHER! Aaaaagh! I am only 31! I think you look great btw.

Denise, your story is too cute... and you're too cute too and youthful! The person didn't have a clue... remember, that picture was when your kids were young!! ... and you were about 7 years younger. You're beautiful. I love you just the way you are.
Love,
Annette

Oh my goodness! My jaw about hit the floor when I read your post. NO, you do NOT look old enough to be a grandmother! Then, of course, I had to laugh... which I hope you are doing by now. You are beautiful and look NOTHING like a grandma!!

I will tell you that when I'm teaching elementary school kids, they have often told me that I look 17 years old. That suits ALL of us because I realize that 17 is OLD to them, but not to me. ;-)

Enjoy your day Beautiful!!

I agree with Laura that person must have been blind! But you know that Preston said that I AM the oldest mom in his whole school. A bit hard to believe, but in his 13 year old mind it is true!

...and when those checkers in the grocery store call me ma'am...I just want to throttle them! ;-)
