The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

Cancer rides a roller coaster...

Photobucket

On this cancer journey, we are on a roller coaster of emotions; good days and bad, twists and turns in moments of happy and sad.

I have found the website: (www.brainhospice.com) to be so helpful for us. My mom's caregivers and myself can read how patients with my mom's type of brain cancer progress. I realize she is right where she is supposed to be in terms of those ups and downs.

I know in the coming weeks and months, the bad days will begin to outnumber the good, but for now, on today's ride, my mom is feeling well. She is feeling strong, ready to get out and walk, and is having no pain. Today is a good day on the roller coaster, and we are thankful.

This is the best you can hope for at this time - that your mom is feeling well and strong today. After all, today is all we have (as you have said many times before). I know there are times when you probably feel like getting back into bed, crawling under the covers and having a good cry. And I hope you allow yourself that as you need it. Hang in there, give our love and good wishes to your mom.
