The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

Grandma Lorraine Update

Today my mom was able to fully embrace life, and had a great day! She joined her friends for a day of, "Stamp Camp" where they helped her create 9 new projects! Afterwards they went out to dinner, and she thoroughly enjoyed herself! As she should!

A new caregiver arrived today who will be with her for 2-3 days of 24 hour shifts. She will have a total of 3 caregivers each week, (or as we like to call them, chauffeurs and cooks!) plus numerous helpful friends! Her parish priest stopped by for a visit, and Hospice has made several house calls. She will have a male nurse who brings medications, checks her vital signs weekly, etc...

She is using a wheelchair to get around public places, but still cruises around her property loop using the walker. This will keep her strength and stamina as strong as possible. She continues to amaze me with her attitude, and wise outlook on this time in her life. The oncologist said she probably has 3-6 months, but she is not counting or worrying those months away. She has chosen to live them as joyfully as possible! Stay strong Mom, and LIVE FULLY! We love you! (See you in a few weeks!)

How fabulous for her!! She is reminding many of us that WE also need to fully embrace life! I'm so glad she had a wonderful day. She deserved it!
