The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

Easter Sunday

It was a brown day...even the ground is brown with not much green to be found near the pond, or near the house. The sky was gloomy, the weather cold, and the anticipation of spring has yet to make an appearance in Colorado. This is my first Easter without both of my parents in my life, and I felt the gloominess in the air, as well as in my heart.

Fortunately, we are blessed with children who breathe life into such a day...with eggs to dye, eggs to hunt, church to attend, dinner to be made, and baskets of chocolate to enjoy, hope is here today. And, just like Mr. and Mrs. Goose, whose presence signals that spring will be right around the corner, I too can be filled with Hope. May you each have a blessed Easter surrounded by those you love, and Hope in the spring to come. Happy Easter to you!

In all sincerity Denise...maybe the geese were your parents coming by to signaling HOPE to you!

Happy Easter!

Denise, one day, we're all going to be together forever for that big Easter celebration in Heaven, and all of this will be like a blip on the radar screen. That doesn't help our hearts when we miss those we love (and I still miss my parents and other loved ones and good friends, too), but I know that home is ahead! And the thought makes me want to dance like no one's watching! lol! :-)

Happy Easter, sweet friend...

Sheila... who is making one last pass around Blog Land after my nice hot shower getting ready to go into a hopefully deep sleep! :-)

I am sorry it was such a hard day for you. Those are the times when I wish I could be there in person to share a cup of coffee and give you a big hug.

We had a dark, rainy day here too. I hope your tomorrow is a sunny one in every way :)

I love that picture. You truly have a way of fitting words to a picture, and expressing so perfectly what others would fumble to say. (((((((hugs)))))) I hugged my parents extra hard today and thought of you. I know someday I will lose them, and I hope I can find your strength and have shown me so much through your journey. I'm praying for your comfort. Each new "first" is hard, I know.

Denise, I wish so much I was closer to you when you are having a hard day, I know missing your folks is difficult and lonely. Beth made a beautiful Analogy and Sheila is right, because this life is a blip on the radar screen, but the emptiness remains. I'm blessed to have my parents, though not close, they are there for me in a phone call or plane ride. I think of Kevin, my husband, as he too lost his parents so young and I know he misses sharing our life with them.
I pray Spring will begin to arrive in CO soon, and I know Tom and your children give you much love to see you through the hard times.
Sending you love and sunshine!

This was a different kind of Easter for us too...not bad, just different. After raising kids for 23 years, no one was home this year. We were able to spend it with great friends though and the weather was glorious.

I know you missed your parents this Easter but thankfully you have a wonderful, supportive family to see you through times of sadness. I hope Spring will be just around the will surely lift your spirits.

I missed out on The Nester's sale. But I did read that she's planning on having sales in the future.
Is she shutting down her Etsy store?
I read that you used to live in California. We used to live in San Diego till 2007. Now, it's very windy and hot Vegas.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'll definitely return to yours.
