The Kofford Family relocates to Colorado after 40 years as Californians. In December of 2007, Grandma Lorraine is diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Sadly, she passed away on Dec. 26th, 2008 after a year long courageous battle. Follow our journey as we keep Lorraine's memory alive, and as we learn to appreciate that each day we are given, is a gift to be enjoyed!

Summer Fun...

Summer fun is dinner with friends...
Beth and Kyle with the Chihuahuas...

Simple joys...Sam enjoys a lawn mower ride....we've now come to take our guests on tractor rides and for the kids it is always an activity full of smiles!
Emma and Ashlyn enjoy playing outside...it seems like just yesterday this entire area was surrounded by snow! Oh how we are enjoying green grass, and not having to wear a coat!

Decorating help needed....
So I bought this "gate" thinking I could hang it on this blank staircase wall....any impressions? Could it be a cool architectural element, or just plain dorky? Needing another woman's opinion I polled Beth during last night's dinner. She said she liked it, but she is also a really nice person, and I know doesn't want to hurt my feelings! hee hee If you agree with Beth and think the gate could look neat, let me know...do let me know if you think it is absolutely ridiculous too. I need some opinions! :-)

More weekend activities...
Ashlyn singing with the Worship Team at church...

We're off to tennis lessons today and sadly for Kyle, a consultation with the oral surgeon to have 4 teeth removed! Poor guy...I remember having to do the same before getting braces...oh the pains and suffering of childhood!

For any Red Bluff readers, the estate sale will be held this week at my parents home. Please contact me for specifics...there are over 70 people scheduled for the first preview day! As hard as it is to watch everything I left behind be sold, I know the scholarship fund will benefit from all the proceeds, so if you are a local reader, feel free to stop at the sale and "shop" for a great cause!

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer with your family and friends!

With love from Colorado,
Denise :-)

Hi, Denise... glad you're having a good summer. Those dogs! I have been looking at dogs, and chihuahuas are on the list of possibles. :-)

Looks like you all are having such fun, and I'm glad.

Love the color of your wall. What is that? I think it's great looking. I also like the gate a lot. My only concern is that it looks heavy, and I would be leery to hang something very heavy up that high. That could just be me. I like the idea of it, though.

Sending you much love and all the best on the estate sale. My wishes, too, for a continued happy summer...

XO,

Sheila :-)

I LOVE the gate and think it would be an awesome addition to the space above your staircase. I love architectural elements like that.

Can't wait to see how good it looks up there!

Hey Denise! Love the pictures!! We had a great time last night. So did the kids. I still say "yes" on the gate and I'm not just being nice. Go for it. You can always take it down after a couple days if you don't like it. I agree wtih Mimi, you need to make sure it's really secure...

I think the gate is great. It would look great on that wall assuming it is the right scale. Great idea!

Hey Denise, looks like lots of fun out there, I'm sure the sunshine and grass are a nice break from the snow.
I was cracking up about the lawn mower rides, Nick would love that!
I like the gate, but like Sheila I was worried about how heavy it might be.......but it's got great lines, love it!

I hope Kyle won't be in too much pain if he does need teeth pulled. We are on set 3 of braces for our kids....that remodel last year at the orthodontist's office........I think I paid for it!
I hope the estate sale goes well.......crossing fingers and toes, a wonderful scholarship you have created.
Keep enjoying your summer!

Hi,

I do like the gate but I agree with Sheila about hanging up something so heavy. Could it be an Outdoor addition instead?

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time....enjoy the summer since its finally here now :)

Everyone looks happy and well! I love that gate, but I'd have to see it up there to know if its a nice setting. I don't want to steer you wrong! But, oh boy, its the prettiest gate and if you don't want it send it to AK. Ha ha, the shipping would set ya back.
I was sitting in my yard yesterday and had the funniest thought. I thought, what if Denise was here right now? Wouldn't that be so awesome!!!?? So, if you can ever get up here, you have a place to stay, horses to ride (tempt tempt) and we could take you for a ride in our float plane too! Up over the moutains and glaciers, and right around our little piece of the world. I would love for you to come. :)
Sorry about dentist stuff, etc. Even summer has its bumps in the road. Dentists..ugh!

Hey Denise I was looking at your blog and saw the pic of the gate! It is gorgeous and I think you should do it if you haven't already...but maybe try it upside down! I can't wait to see it up there! I havent been doing much blogging...looking at others or my own...maybe again soon.
