Pumpkin Night
Last night we enjoyed our annual Halloween pumpkin carving dinner and had such a nice evening. The Smiths, (a fellow Covidien family) and The Johnsons, (from Briar Gate Farm) joined us for dinner and pumpkin carving!
The kids had fun using stencils and free hand designs to turn their pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns!
Ashlyn scooping out her pumpkin pulp before making a cute kitty jack-o-lantern.
Kyle hard at work on his vampire design.
Molly scooping and carving.
Sweet 2 year old Ella helped her Daddy carve a cute face...
5 year old Oscar made "hair" on his jack-o-lantern and it turned out really neat with the candle glowing under his jack-o-lantern hair special effects! While the kids carved, the adults enjoyed apple pie and hot apple cider after dinner. It's so nice as our kids get older and can take over much of the carving duties themselves...this was the first year Kyle did it all from start to finish!
Megan helping Molly complete her bats with full moon background. (If you haven't tried the stencil kits for carving, we highly recommend them! They are easy to do and have such a professional finished look!)
The finished pumpkins looked so pretty glowing with the lights off, but I couldn't figure out how to turn off the flash on my camera so these photos don't do them justice!
Since it was a school night, everyone needed to get going by 9 p.m. but Kyle stayed up later to finish his "vampire." Here is his finished creation...look at the neat moving light effect from the candles! Cool! :-)
I am off this morning to give a presentation at Ashlyn's school to 12 parent mentors for the PALS Program. We'll be talking about Math and Literacy! (Two of my favorite teacher subjects to talk about!)
Happy Thursday, and we wish you all a "spook-tacular" evening tomorrow night!
Happy Halloween Haunting!

Looks fun, we carve tonight...I'll be doing a chemo pumpkin :)
Have a great time teaching this morning, your passion is inspiring!
Looks like a really fun party! BTW, thank you for sharing Korrine's website. I read through all of the blogs. It was just incredibly heartbreaking and made me wonder again and again why children have to suffer. Why anyone has to suffer. It sounds like the family has an amazing support system and a strong faith. My heart really goes out to them.
Sounds like you had so much fun! I LOVE the pumpkins... great job kids!
Enjoy your trick or treating and know we're thinking of you out here in CA!
Your pictures are just wonderful! What a great time for adults and children alike. Cute little Ella, just loved her sweet face.
Yes, I hate mucking out pumpkin guts, its great when they can do it themselves. Mommy is a bit too prissy! (I hate getting messy, never even played in mud puddles when I was a kiddo)
Looks like a really fun night! You know how to throw a party!
Pumpkin carving is so much fun and your tradition of sharing the fun with other families is terrific! Kudos to all the artists!
