Here it is, just as beautiful as I had hoped it would be!
It was a perfect day to enjoy the mountain with sunny blue skies and a great view from the observation deck.
There was a nice hiking trail around the mountain...
And the view from the trail is equally impressive!
The kids pose in the "Sculptors Studio" where we learned how Borglum created this wonderful National Monument.
The kids taking a break from climbing stairs!
What a breath taking monument Mt. Rushmore is! It is only 5 1/2 hours from Longmont, so for any of you potential visitors, keep this trip in mind! Tomorrow I will post photos from the rest of the trip...thanks for following our journey from the mountains to the prairies!

I have ALWAYS wanted to visit Mt. Rushmore. I hope to one day be able to visit. Your pictures are amazing. I am glad you are all enjoying your time.
David is my boyfriend. We have been friends since I started high school and have been dating for 9 months. He works with a pastor in Haiti and is very involved there. Right now David has planned a summer camp for the youth in their church in Haiti. He tries to visit Haiti a few times a year and speaks Creole (the main language) very well. David and I were in Haiti together last year and have good memories with the people. He will be gone for three weeks total and we are half way there. I am missing him a lot!
I hope you continue to have a great trip. It is nice to read about your daily travels :)
Love your photos of Mt. Rushmore. I didn't realize it is so close to Longmont. We would love to visit you someday. I pray it will be possible!
